At the exhibition Hannover Messe (Hanover Fair) 2014, Nivelco presented to the public a new product-a PiloTREK series level gauge with a stainless steel housing. The well-proven level converter is now in a more durable and reliable design.
The PiloTREK series of level gauges are simple devices that work on radar the method. The principle of operation is based on measuring the transit time of reflected pulses. The propagation velocity of microwave pulses is practically the same in air, gas and vacuum, regardless of the temperature and pressure of the process, so the measured distance is not affected by the physical properties of the measured medium. The level gauge induces microwave pulses lasting several nanoseconds in the antenna, and part of the energy of the emitted signals is reflected from the surface of the measured mass, depending on the characteristics of the measured medium. The flight time of the reflected signal is measured and processed by electronic devices, and then this value is proportionally converted into distance, level or volume data. The quality of measuring the level of a certain medium depends on the signal strength of the reflected microwave pulses. The signal strength of the reflected microwave pulses depends on the measured distance, the relative dielectric constant of the measured medium and on the wave formation on the surface. The relative dielectric constant (er) of the medium must be greater than 1.9.
PiloTREK25 Hz pulse radar sensors (K band) are considered the most advanced non-contact level meters in the field of industrial process automation. Their accuracy is excellent, and the short and narrow antennas make their installation easy and economical. A radar sensor with a K range provides a measurement accuracy of ±3 mm, as well as a short dead zone. The antenna range covers a stainless steel horn and rod-shaped plastic tubes. Rod antennas can be replaced without removing the antenna from the process. Local programming of PiloTREK is carried out using a removable display module. If reading the reading at the work site is not required, this module can not be installed, thus reducing operating costs. The signal processing algorithm of the new PiloTREK level meter is based on NIVELCO's 30-year experience with contactless level meters, which makes this device ideal for use in both normal and heavy working conditions.
